We've added a new album to our Flickr site: a selection of nineteenth-century Canadian booksellers, newspapers, and printing ephemera.
The collection consists mostly of company billheads but also contains letters, envelopes, memorandums, and receipts from various Canadian companies. While the dates of the ephemera range from the 1830s to the 1920s, most of the items are from the late nineteenth century and they document the diversity of print-media companies, especially in Ontario. The ephemera, specifically the billheads, reflect changing attitudes towards typography and advancements in graphic design, as illustrated in the representations of local buildings and factories.
