As the world commemorates 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau on International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27, 2025, the Fisher Library will hold a public presentation focused on various aspects relating to the Fisher Library collections and the Holocaust.
The presentation will be divided into two parts:
The first will present the Goldschläger Collection of Holocaust Memoirs. The discussion will highlight the unique aspects of the Goldschläger Collection and current library initiatives to preserve and expand it, and will present a number of examples from the collection as well as a selection of exceptional artists books about the Holocaust.
The second will discuss the phenomenon of books looted from Jews and Jewish institutions and will focus on the pre- and post-Holocaust histories of select books in the Fisher collection, along with possible practical steps to bring those histories to light.
This presentation will be led by Nadav Sharon, Judaica Librarian, University of Toronto.
