The latest issue of The Halcyon, the newsletter of the Friends of the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, is now available in both print and as a digital download. The December issue is typically dedicated to gift-in-kind donations, and this issue focuses on a number of important additions, both recent and from years past, to the library.
Two archival donations are featured: Toronto writer Derek McCormack and the wood engraver Rosemary Killbourn, along with a look at the future of literary archival donations via born-digital content. Two donations going back many years are also highlighted: the Fisher's collection of the long-running and influential Indigenous-led newspaper Akwesasne Notes and books, including cookbooks, belonging to Eustella Langdon. The issue also pays tribute to designer bookbinder Michael Wilcox, who died earlier this year.
All past issues of The Halcyon are available on the web site, including an index of articles that have appeared in the newsletter.
