Letters from Second World War Soldiers

The Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library has started a collection of World War II memorabilia, focussing on the correspondence of ordinary soldiers and their families. The letters give a new and intimate insight into the lives of these men and women, their daily routines, concerns, and thoughts about the war. In addition, researchers can also piece together how families coped on the homefront. Besides correspondence, the collection includes photographs and rare ephemeral material.

The Fisher welcomes additions to this collection. If you have similar material in your possession which you would like to make accessible to researchers here at the University of Toronto, please consider donating it to the Fisher. For more information about donating your WWII material, please contact P.J. Carefoote (click on name to send e-mail, or phone: 416-946-3173).
