Derek Walcott Exhibit Opens

The Fisher Library's latest exhibition has opened.

“How Beautiful My Brethren and Sistren: Derek Walcott, Life and Work,” focuses on the work of the 1992 Nobel Laureate. This exhbit highlights a broad selection of original Walcott archival material held at the Fisher: from his works O Babylon!  and Omeros, as well as other aspects of his life and work, including his painting and drawing. The Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library first acquired a significant portion of the literary papers of Derek Walcott in 1997, comprised of his poetry, plays, storyboards, drawings, sketches and prose primarily from the early 1980s to the mid-1990s.

The exhibit runs until April 2012. For more information, please visit the Fisher’s current exhibitions page. The Fisher is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Thursdays when the library is open until 8 p.m.
