Incunabula

The Fisher Library has some two hundred books printed before 1501. These books, commonly referred to as incunabula or incunables, were printed in Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands, with the majority being in Latin, but also in Hebrew, Green and some vernacular languages. These books are broadly representative of the range of early western printing.

A typical example is an almanac or calendar such as the Compost et kalendrier des bergères, shown below. Imprime a Paris en lostel de beauregart en la rue Cloppin a lenseigne du roy Prestre ihan. [17 Aug. 1499].
